AEROARMS’ third period advances presented at ICRA 2019

On May 23rd the ICRA 2019 workshop “The Future of Aerial Robotics: Challenges and Opportunities” was held in Montréal, Canada. During this event experts from several institutions and enterprises as University of Zagreb (LARICS), EPFL or DJI analysed the future evolution of the UAVs applications as well as issues like compliance and autonomy in aerial manipulation or the morphology for Aerial Robotics.

In this workshop the AEROARMS coordinator Anibal Ollero (USE and CATEC) and the experts Guillermo Heredia (USE), Antonio Franchi (LAAS-CNRS) and Gianluca Antonelli (CREATE) talked about the tenure of the integration experiments and the novelties that AEROARMS has brought to Aerial Robotics and specifically to the aerial manipulation and its application to inspection and maintenance. The development of jointed arms or the AEROX license plate demonstrate it.

Currently AEROARMS is in its final stage, and recently a experiments campaign has started with the application of the project’s findings in several manufacturing plants like the HOLCIM-Lafarge cement plant alocated in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) or the Germany refinery in July 2018.
